Holy Spirit Catholic School Division is pleased to announce that Mrs. Jill Weatherhead will be stepping into the role of Principal for St. Michael’s School in Bow Island for the 2025/2026 school year.
Mrs. Weatherhead attained her Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Adelaide in South Australia in 2004. She went on to complete her Masters of Educational Leadership from the University of Lethbridge in 2024.
With 20 years of educational experience, she began her career in 2005 as a teacher with Prairie Rose School Division. In 2015, Mrs. Weatherhead made the move to St. Michael’s School, serving in multiple roles including teacher, Acting Principal and Associate Principal.
Sharing the news of this new appointment, Superintendent Chantel Axani said, “I have been thoroughly impressed with Jill’s dedication to the students, staff, families, and the community of Bow Island since I have joined Holy Spirit Catholic School division. Jill is a leader who is student-centered and Christ-focused; one who works to ensure all students experience success and deepen their faith. I know that with Jill stepping into the role of Principal, St. Michael’s will continue to be well-served”.
Current and retiring principal, Kevin Kinahan, states, “I am OVER THE MOON happy for both St. Michael’s School and for Jill. Working with Jill for the past two years has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences in my educational career. Her passion and love for the students and school is unmatched. She is an extremely hard worker and she sees Jesus in every person she encounters. I see great things happening at St. Michael’s School under her leadership.”
“As a long-time member of the Bow Island community, I am delighted to serve the students, their families and our staff as Principal. It is my dream that the community I grew up in can continue to thrive and contribute generously to our province and the world. Our students are the future.” said Mrs. Weatherhead. “My favorite aspect of teaching and learning at St. Michael's is how we do it all as an extended family. The family atmosphere at St. Michael's is truly an extension of God's will - that "in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:5.”
Her commitment to faith-based education and the community of Bow Island is unparalleled. In her free time, Mrs. Weatherhead enjoys chauffeuring, cheerleading, and volunteering with her own children’s athletic pursuits, spending time with her husband and friends, and digging in the dirt on the farm.
