It has been just over a month since Ms. Chantel Axani began her role as Superintendent of Schools for the Holy Spirit Catholic School Division. On December 11, 2024, she spoke to the media to reflect on her first 30 days and how she has been adjusting to life at Holy Spirit.
"It's been a blessing, a whirlwind, and so much fun," she said. "My first 30 days feel like 30 minutes—it’s gone by so quickly. I’ve been visiting schools, meeting students, staff, and principals, and getting to know the Board of Trustees and our senior team. It has been the best professional experience I’ve ever had."
Ms. Axani joined Holy Spirit from Lakeland Catholic School Division, where she spent the past 18 years in roles ranging from teacher to Deputy Superintendent. Despite her extensive knowledge and experience, she admits that this new role has taught her a great deal. She’s grateful for the strong support system helping her navigate this journey.
"Taking on this position has shown me that I don’t know it all," she said with a smile. "But it has also shown me the incredible teachers and dedicated staff at Holy Spirit, which is such a blessing when joining a new school division."
Ms. Axani is thankful for the opportunity to work at Holy Spirit, not only because of its outstanding reputation but also because it allows her to continue serving in the Catholic school system.
"I’ve been a dedicated supporter of Catholic education since I began teaching in Catholic schools in 2006," Ms. Axani explained. "Over the years, I’ve had experience with Holy Spirit Catholic School Division and heard nothing but amazing things. I’m so thankful to be chosen to serve the people of this incredible division."
Looking ahead, Ms. Axani is excited to support the staff and build upon the great work already being done.
"It’s important to me to keep advancing our Board Priorities," she said. "This includes strengthening the home, school, and parish connection; supporting teachers in providing the best possible learning for our students; and continuing to honor truth and reconciliation as part of the Treaty 7 Territory."
